Screech Owl Cam’ Returns to Disappeared

The web server hosting the screech owl cam’ is non-responsive again, so we’re right back where we were yesterday.

I can only imagine your frustration. I sent an email to the address you provided. Can you still see the Cam on your own? Curious as to whether Mr Owl has brought in any larger game. The clock is ticking!

    1. Thanks. It's as depressing as it is pointless, and it magically transforms something that was a credit to the University into an active embarrassment to it. And that's just at this side. All the people—from those wanting to learn about their own screech owls by proxy, to those who want a connection with this hidden part of nature, to random passersby, to the teachers and their students—who enjoyed, or even depended on, the cam’ are being cheated.

As to Mr. Owl; good question. Last night he brought in several geckos, which was encouraging if only because they'll supply his mate with some calcium, but, before I'd finished watching, he'd resumed caterpillar deliveries, and she'd resumed her "feed me calls". She's quiet today, but I still don't think Mr. Owl has made the necessary improvements to his hunting skills.

  2. This makes me so sad. I look forward to you owl cam all year long. We have an owl house in our yard in southwest Austin, and while I can't see inside, watching your nesting pair helps me understand what's going on in there.

Thanks for all you've done for the owls and their observers over the years.

    1. My thanks to all of you for your support. It's very gratifying; I just wish it hadn't been made necessary in the first place.

As an alumna of the university and a six year fan of the owl cam, I am very disappointed with the circumstances of this situation. I too have emailed the Office of the President asking that your access to the web server be restored.
