Fourth Egg Laid

The fourth egg has been laid, but, due to the exceptionally poor reliability of the video capture system lately, I wasn’t able to get a picture of it. With luck, the video capture system will stay up for a while, and Mme. Owl will reveal the eggs again soon.

Thanks for the live cam you do every year! Thanks to you, we are in season 6 in Cedar Park (1431& 183) with 2 eggs as of yesterday am. Last year we had 4 owlets leave the nest box. Mark & Donna

  2. Just saw the captures from the 8th...the owls this year certainly are equal-opportunity hosts, aren't they? that's new...during nesting season, that is...

  5. The "new" pictures from the 8th and 9th are fantastic! I know you think you're being all stealth, but it's pretty obvious she's on to you!

  6. Nice to see what might be going on in my own screech owl box! (I have my first nesting pair)

    Very exciting!

  7. Love to see this picture! I'm very excited for my owl in the nest box and wanting to see the development. Thanks for your great capture.

  8. Chris - the projects you outline in your March 28 entry on the owl cam page sound wonderful - I know that I for one enjoy singling out good captures, and having the archive open would give us viewers enjoyment, as well as taking that job of selection off of your plate. I hope you have the luxury soon - first, of course, of getting a bit of rest - and then of having time to enjoy tweaking the owl cam! Thanks for everything.

I never see an egg of an owl, it's good that you capture some pictures of it. I'm wondering if it is big as the egg of the chicken?

  11. David, A screech owl's egg is much smaller than a chicken's egg. (Since screech owls are much smaller than chickens, that's to be expected.) To get an idea of the size of a screech owl egg you need to see one photographed with something to provide scale.
